Boeing Partners with RPI for Aircraft Lighting
The Lighting Research Center (LRC) at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, N.Y., has partnered with Chicago-based Boeing Corp. to advance the quality of interior lighting in commercial aircraft. Within the LRC Partners Program, they will collaborate on projects to assess existing lighting and to specify new concepts and requirements. Much of the effort will be focused on systems for Boeing's 787 Dreamliner jet, which is in development. Boeing is interested in LED lighting for aircraft cabins because of its energy-saving potential.
