Kopin Corp., a Taunton, Mass., developer of digital imaging and telecommunications technologies, announced that Michael J. Presz was promoted to a corporate officer and named vice president of government programs and special projects. Formerly vice president and general manager of Kopin's Visual Products Group, Presz will lead the company's military microdisplay business. He will also be responsible for the operation of Kopin's Scotts Valley, Calif., design center, which provides original equipment manufacturers with product development services including conceptual design, product design, prototyping and custom display system manufacturing. . . . Telops, a Quebec maker of optronic test systems, announced it has added ficonTEC, of Germany, as a distributor in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy and Finland. ficonTEC, which makes automated assembly and test equipment for microsystems, recently obtained the rights to commercialize Telops' V1000, V2000 and C1000, burn-in/lifetest and characterization test systems for laser diodes. . . . Thales, a Santa Clara, Calif., satellite navigation and positioning company, has appointed Francois Erceau as vice president and general manager of its survey and GIS (geographic information systems) business unit. Erceau was formerly director of Thales' survey business and previously directed business-to-business European sales and marketing efforts for its navigation business.
