Dalsa Corp., a Waterloo, Ontario-based semiconductor and electronics company, announced a technology license agreement with
Royal Philips Electronics NV that enables it to use Philips' patent rights, know-how and product and prototype device designs relating to CMOS (complementary metal oxide semiconductor) imaging technology. Dalsa, which created a CMOS business unit earlier this year, said the agreement is a significant step for its Digital Imaging division, which will initially focus on professional and high-volume industrial markets. The company recently hired several scientists and engineers at its Eindhoven, Netherlands, location who participated in the development of the licensed intellectual property.
. . . . Headwall Photonics, of Fitchburg, Mass., received an
American Society of Agricultural Engineers (ASAE) annual AE50 Award, given to companies who develop technology with applications in the agricultural, food, biological and related industries. Headwall's core technology is based on the design of application-specific wavelength solutions with embedded 'original' holographic diffraction gratings. It makes spectral engines, chemical imaging products and optical subsystems for the analytical, life sciences, defense and telecommunications industries. The company was founded in 2003 after a management buyout of the optical division of Agilent Technologies (formerly American Holographic).
. . . Imago Scientific Instruments, of Madison, Wisc., is the first receipient of a Governor's Small Business Technology Transfer Award from the State of Wisconsin. The annual award recognizes a company that develops an innovative idea into a business that provides high-quality jobs in the state. The technology behind Imago's local electrode atom probe microscope (LEAP), which provides 3-D materials anaylsis at the nanoscale, was licensed from the University of Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation and is now a product with a worldwide customer base of nanotechnology researchers and product development scientists and engineers.
