Jim Day has joined CEYX Technologies Inc. as vice president of sales and marketing, responsible for the San Diego company's Smart Light Control products. Day formerly managed sales for wireless application services at Pacific DataVision and previously held executive sales positions at Praja Inc., SkyDesk, Softbank/Ziff-Davis and Andersen Consulting (Accenture). CEYX is a provider of software-enabled control systems for LEDs that replaces analog hardware circuitry with "intelligent" digital software.    . . .    Micron Technology, a Boise, Idaho-based maker of semiconductor components, was given the Walter Kosonocky Award at the 2005 IEEE Workshop on Charge-Coupled Devices and Advanced Image Sensors, held this month in Japan. The award is given every two years for a paper that best represents significant advancements in solid-state image sensors. Micron was recognized for its paper describing "A 2e Noise 1.3 Megapixel CMOS Sensor," involving the low noise potential of a CMOS sensor with a buried photodiode and column-parallel ramp ADC architecture, and its research on the subject.    . . .    Veeco Instruments Inc., a Woodbury, N.Y., maker of nanoscale instruments for the semiconductor, data storage, HB-LED/wireless and scientific research markets, has opened a nanotechnology center in Bangalore, India. The facility will be staffed with local scientists and engineers and equipped with Veeco's atomic force microscope, scanning tunneling microscope products and other advanced nanotechnology application modules. The Veeco-India Nanotechnology Laboratory (JNCASR) will be jointly operated with the Jawaharlal Nehru Center for Advanced Scientific Research, which promotes interdisciplinary research in science and engineering.
