Vishay to Acquire CyOptics Israel
MALVERN, Pa., Aug. 3 -- Vishay Intertechnology Inc., a manufacturer of discrete semiconductors and passive electronic components, announced that Vishay Israel Ltd. has signed a letter of intent to acquire the assets of CyOptics Israel Ltd., the Israeli subsidiary of CyOptics Inc., a supplier of indium phosphide (InP) chips and laser and detector components for broadband access, metro and long-haul communications systems. The transaction is subject to satisfactory completion of due diligence by Vishay and approval by various Israeli government agencies, among other conditions.
CyOptics Israel engineers design optical components for advanced infrared technology and the company has a modern wafer fab in Yokneam, Israel, to produce gallium arsenide and InP chips used for optoelectronics. Vishay plans to develop new products at this facility.
