The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted Siemens Medical Solutions of Malvern, Pa., clearance for the Arcadis Avantic, a new mobile C-arm system, to be used for advanced imaging requirements in trauma and spine surgery, general surgery and urology, orthopaedic surgery and pain management, gastroenterology and vascular surgery. The device is expected to be available in September.    . . .    RedShift Systems Corp., a provider of thermal imaging solutions, has appointed Shuyun Wu as director of device development and Mikhail Fridberg as director of hardware and firmware development. Wu is responsible for the design, fabrication and packaging of the Thermal Light Valve (TLV) focal plane array chip; Fridberg is responsible for the design of hardware, firmware and software for the TLV camera module. In related news, the company announced that it has moved to new offices in Waltham, Mass., in anticipation of continued growth through the end of the year.
