E2v technologies Purchases Company
In the UK, e2v technologies plc of Chelmsford has acquired Gresham Scientific Instruments Ltd. of High Wycombe, a manufacturer of x-ray detectors and related items for energy dispersive x-ray and x-ray fluorescence spectrometry. The products, used mainly in scanning and transmission electron microscopes, are supplied globally for scientific and industrial applications. E2v will incorporate the technologies into its sensors portfolio, expanding its line of medical and science equipment.
In other news, image sensors from e2v technologies were used on NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, which was launched in August. The sensors will capture images from the two-ton probe’s High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment telescopic camera, looking particularly for clues to the planet’s water and ice history.
