Telcordia Technologies has issued GR-3120, Issue 1,
Generic Requirements of Hardened Fiber Optic Connectors. The passive telecommunications components, which are used outside plants, are important to the implementation of fiber-to-the-premises. Targeted to purchasers, manufacturers and suppliers, the 80-page document includes requirements for plastic materials, optical connectors, product samples and changes, and marking, packaging and shipping. Application-specific requirements, including environmental and mechanical performance, and vibration, intermateability and reliability performance testing, also are addressed.
