Summit to Explore Nanotech Apps
ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 18 -- The Nano Science and Technology Institute (NSTI) of Cambridge, Mass., which has a mission to promote nano- and other advanced technologies, is presenting a one-day summit tomorrow of businesses demonstrating how nanotechnology is influencing new product development in areas ranging from medical devices to electronics to homeland security and how those new products will impact society and economies. The summit will take place at the Hilton Alexandria Old Town in Alexandria.
The National Nanotechnology Coordination Office's (NNCO) E. Clayton Teague will give attendees the opportunity to learn about the latest developments and activities of the NNCO, which is the point of contact on federal nanotechnology activities for government organizations, academia, industry, professional societies, foreign organizations and others to exchange information. Teague will discuss how these actions are impacting nanoscale research, development and commercialization.
Kenneth Dean of Motorola Labs will speak on its new CNT nanoemissive display (NED) technology, which could create less expensive, large, flat panel displays with outstanding quality and a longer operating life.
Executives from IBM, General Electric Co., Procter & Gamble Co., Altair Nanotechnologies, Hybrid Plastics Inc., Molecular Imprints Inc., Nanophase Technologies Corp. and Nantero will also give briefings to summit attendees about their newest nano influenced products.
