Albis Optoelectronics AG, a manufacturer of photodiodes for fiber optic datacom and telecom applications, has named Rene Regez, CEO of Coma Service AG, as president of its board. Franz Richter, former CEO of Suss Microtech and current CEO of Unaxis Semiconductor Div., has also joined the Albis board. The company says the appointments coincide with a substantial cash increase, allowing it to add production capacity and increase product development and staff at its high-volume fab in Rueschlikon, Switzerland. . . . ADE Corp. of Westwood, Mass., a supplier of metrology and inspection systems required for production in the silicon wafer, semiconductor device, magnetic data storage and optics manufacturing industries, says that Peter Wolters AG, a worldwide supplier of silicon wafer polishing equipment, has installed ADE's WaferSight wafer geometry system at its research and development lab in Germany. Peter Wolters R&D Director Georg Moersch says the new system will help the company improve its wafer quality at the 35-nm technology node.
