Companies Collaborate for Imaging Measurement

Hinds Instruments Inc. of Hillsboro, Ore., a developer of birefringence measurement tools, and Cambridge Research & Instrumentation Inc., a supplier of liquid crystal-based imaging products, have formed an alliance in which Hinds will represent the Woburn, Mass., company’s LC-PolScopeT systems to industrial metrology customers worldwide. The addition of the systems to Hinds’ product family will enable the company to offer customers a means to perform image-based measurements on and off the microscope. Cambridge Research’s LC-PolScope IM imaging system is used to map retardance and slow-axis orientation as gray-scale images.
