Laser Optics Increases Production Capacity

The Laser Optics business unit of Photonic Products Group Inc. of Northvale, N.J., has expanded its capacity to produce sets of specialty waveband optical components under a contract from Raytheon Co. of Waltham, Mass. Although the dollar value was not disclosed, the production contract for 2005 covered more than 1400 sets. The parts are made from high-purity and -uniformity indium antimonide, which is both soft and brittle and has mechanical properties that vary with direction. The components are key to some of Raytheon’s imaging assemblies for US Department of Defense programs.
