LASER RELIABILITY

Downloadable from ILX Lightwave Corp.’s Web site, the Microsoft Excel-based “Laser Reliability Workbook” is a tool for plotting and analyzing laser diode and LED lifetime data. It automatically creates Weibull and lognormal probability plots of lifetime data, and calculates the probability distribution parameters and times to failure. Up to 100 lifetime data points may be entered into the workbook. Built-in Arrenhius model calculations may be used to estimate time to failure at a second temperature. Instructions on how to use the tool and five sets of example data are provided.
