Companies Collaborate on Receiver Components

Optoelectronic components provider u2t Photonics AG in Berlin has been working jointly on a development project with Lucent Technologies of Murray Hill, N.J. Lucent’s Bell Labs passed the first verification tests for the balanced photoreceiver BPRV2123 last summer. The component will be used in its next-generation 43-Gb/s dense wavelength division multiplexing systems.
The product, based on u2t’s 43-Gb/s balanced detector BPDV2020R, uses an electrical amplifier to boost performance to 520-mV differential output swing. It was expected to be available by the end of 2005.
