Arrow Electronics Inc., a Melville, N.Y., supplier of electronic components and computer products, announced that Michael J. Long was promoted to president of its North America and Asia/Pacific Components business. Long was formerly president of the company's North American businesses and was previously president of its North American Computer Products division. The company also announced that Harriet Green, president of Arrow Asia/Pacific, has resigned to be CEO of London-based electronic products and services distributor Premier Farnell PLC. . . . CVI and Hyperion Development have announced a strategic alliance to leverage joint engineering and production opportunities for optical system designs. Based in Albuquerque, N.M., CVI operates manufacturing facilities in New Mexico, California, the British Isles and South Korea, with worldwide sales representatives and distributors. Hyperion works with Fortune 500 companies in the semiconductor, aerospace and defense industries to design and develop optical and optomechanical systems. "Hyperion brings unique skills in modeling and optimizing optical designs for complex, tight-tolerance optical assemblies and subassemblies," said Stuart Schoenmann, CEO of CVI. . . . LightPath Technologies Inc., an Orlando, Fla., maker of optical products and laser components, announced today that its vice president and chief financial officer, Rob Burrows, has accepted the position of CFO at FDN Communications, a private provider of communications services in the Southeast. Burrows' resignation from Lightpath will be effective Feb. 8. Kenneth Brizel, president and CEO of LightPath, will be acting CFO and acting principal financial and accounting officer during a search for Burrows' replacement. . . .
