BARRINGTON, N.J., Jan. 31 -- Edmund Optics, a manufacturer and distributor of optics, optical components and imaging equipment, announced that it bought Percussion Inc.'s Rythmyx software for content management to create and maintain its catalog, Web and print materials. The software will be integrated with its existing ERP system, allowing for the creation of 10 international catalogs and the distribution of more than 2.2 million catalogs around the world. The Rhythmyx software package will also function as a a digital asset management (DAM) system for the millions of photographs, technical drawings and artwork Edmund Optics houses.
Mari Edmund, director of marketing at Emund Optics, said, "The addition of Percussion's Rhythmyx server will allow us to bring catalogs to market faster and serve as a synchronization tool between our various print catalogs and our e-commerce Web site."
Edmund Optics will also use Rhythmyx as a product manager and as a central repository of technical information for its 11,000-plus products.
The company said it will begin implementing the changes in February and said it hopes to launch its first catalog using the new system in September.
