Consortium Awards Contract for OLEDs
The US Display Consortium, a San Jose, Calif., public/private partnership for developing the flat panel display infrastructure, and Plextronics Inc., a Pittsburgh developer of organic electronic devices, have signed a two-phase $1.8 million contract to further the commercialization of organic LEDs (OLEDs). For the first phase, the companies will share the $675,000 cost to advance the Plexcore hole injection layer technology. Plextronics’ nonacidic, solvent-based conductive polymer layer can be tuned to enhance the efficiency and lifetime of OLED devices and to enable cost-effective printing of displays.
The program represents a collaboration of private industry and the US Army Research Laboratory in Adelphi, Md.
