Collaboration to Improve Laser Cutting Technology
Applied Photonics Inc., a supplier of laser-based solutions to the semiconductor and flat panel display industries with headquarters in Scottsdale, Ariz., and Jenoptik Automatisierungstechnik GmbH of Jena, Germany, will work together to accelerate the commercialization of laser cutting technology for use by flat panel display and cell phone manufacturers.
The Arizona company has developed a patented method for making full laser cuts in display glass 0.4 to 0.7 mm thick. The German company develops and supplies laser systems for materials processing. Both parties intend to translate the new laser technology of cutting display glass to production hardware.
