Hamamatsu Photonics Expands PMT Production
In Japan, Hamamatsu Photonics KK of Hamamatsu intends to double the production of its photomultiplier tubes (PMTs) and related products with the opening of its new facility in Toyo’oka, which is the primary location of its Electron Tube Div. The completed four-story building has floor space of approximately 12,000 sq m. The increased manufacturing capacity will allow the company to reduce the production costs of items such as flat panel photomultiplier tubes, components used in many new PET scanners. The division also will use the plant as a center for research and development.
