Auxora Acquires Confluent Photonics
BALDWIN PARK, Calif., March 6, 2006 -- Auxora Inc., a Salem, N.H., developer of products for optical communications, laser and photonics applications, announced today it has completed its acquisition of Confluent Photonics Corp., a provider of optical bandwidth expansion technology for hybrid fiber coaxial networks. Terms were not disclosed.
"The acquisition of Confluent marks an important milestone of Auxora's corporate development, said Xin Zhang, president/CEO of Auxora. "It is also a critical part of Auxora's strategy of expanding into more diverse markets and customer base. By combining Confluent's technologies and products, Auxora is now well-positioned to meet the market's needs for bandwidth expansion when the demand of bandwidth continues to grow and the means of delivery converge.
"The acquisition also provides Auxora an expanded and complementary technology platform that will enable us to address a wider range of applications outside the communication industry," Zhang added.
As part of the acquisition, Grant Watkins, vice president of business development of Confluent Photonics, will join the Auxora executive team as its vice president of sales.
"This is very good news for our customers, because the combined company can now offer complete solutions for bandwidth expansion," Watkins said. "Whether it is WDM, CWDM or DWDM, low-channel or high-channel count, inside or outside plant solutions, Auxora now has the full range of engineering expertise and products to address our customers' diverse needs."
Confluent CEO Nicholas Economou will join the Auxora board of directors.
Auxora said it plans to consolidate Confluent Photonics' operation with its existing operation in Shenzhen, China.
Confluent Photonics was founded in 2000. The company uses its grating technology to supply cable MSO operators with dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) products for bandwidth expansion and node splitting.
Confluent's HFC bandwidth expansion and node-splitting solutions are being exhibited at Auxora's booth (2579).
