FATS Gets $12M US Marines Contract
SUWANEE, Ga., March 8, 2006 -- The US Marine Corps (USMC) has awarded Firearms Training Systems Inc. (FATS) a contract valued at over $12 million to deliver more than 1250 Bluefire wireless weapon simulators, 4350 optical adapters for day-and-night vision weapons optics and new training courseware.
This first delivery of FATS-developed advanced combat optics technology for the military is scheduled to begin immediately and is to be completed by June. FATS will provide the USMC with seven different types of combat optics to accommodate training on weapons systems currently used in operations.
According to the company, the products will be a significant enhancement over the USMC virtual training platforms previously supplied by FATS. The company was also awarded a contract in October 2005 to supply the Marines with 65 portable virtual training systems.
