Zeon Expands Production of Optical Films
To meet the demand for ZeonorFilm, a proprietary stretched film that is used in large LCD televisions, Zeon Corp. of Tokyo is expanding its production capacity at its subsidiary Optes Inc.’s plant in Takaoka, Japan. Annual production capacity will be increased to 322 million square feet.
The film features high transparency and low birefringence, wavelength dispersion and photoelasticity. Optical compensation occurs when the film is stretched, providing a protective function for polarizing plates and contributing to stable display screen quality.
