NEC Reabsorbs Semiconductor Sector
The board of directors of NEC Electronics Corp. of Kawasaki, Japan, has voted to merge its wholly owned subsidiary NEC Compound Semiconductor Devices Ltd. into the parent company, effective April 1. The company announced that the merged entity’s products, including radio-frequency and wireless semiconductors, fiber optic communications components and optocouplers, will continue to be distributed and supported in North and South America by California Eastern Laboratories of Santa Clara, Calif.
