NIST to Address Optical Radiation Hazards
The
National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST) will hold its International Symposium on Measurements of Optical Radiation Hazards from Sept. 1-3 at its headquarters in Gaithersburg, Md.
The objective of the symposium is to promote improved standardized radiometric measurements of optical radiation hazards from infrared, visible and ultraviolet light sources. Experts will describe protective measures such as sunscreens, clothing and eye protection.
The subject matter for the first day of the meeting will be human exposure limits and guidelines; on the second day, experts will explore some of the remaining uncertainties about exposure limits. On the final day, they will discuss measurements and instrumentation.
