Cypress Names Head of Asia Operations

As part of its plan to grow its Asia business and expand its regional presence there, Cypress Semiconductor Corp. of San Jose, Calif., announced the appointment of industry veteran Paul Chu as vice president of Asia sales and operations. Chu brings to Cypress more than 25 years of semiconductor sales, marketing and engineering experience, including stints at Fairchild, AMD and IIT in the US, and the last 12 years in his native Hong Kong with C-Cube, LSI Logic and Freescale. Cypress said its business in Asia has grown significantly over the last several years, and accounted for 45 percent of revenue in 2005, driven in large part by sales of USB controllers, memories and clocks to consumer, computation and communications customers.
