US Display Consortium to Target New Markets
A robust electronic display market has spurred the US Display Consortium to define untapped market opportunities.
The group has commissioned Stanford Resources Inc. to conduct a study on potential flat panel display markets that are unrelated to desktop and portable computers. Important segments include home appliances, transportation, education and medical instrumentation.
The consortium also has recognized several developments of its member companies including advances in field emission and projection displays, and organic light- emitting diodes.
Independent market research firms predict the display market will be worth $7 billion by 1999. The consortium, headquartered in San Jose, Calif., comprises more than 100 companies.
