German and US Companies Form Alliance on Polymer Products
Wahl optoparts GmbH of Triptis, a subsidiary of Jenoptik AG of Jena, both in Germany, has formed a partnership with Apollo Optical Systems LLC and RPC Photonics Inc., both of Rochester, N.Y. The companies will cooperate in the manufacture of polymer-based optical products and light-shaping, microstructured components for the medical, defense, automotive and commercial markets.
Wahl optoparts, as supplier of optoelectronic and optomechanical systems and polymer optical components, is represented in North America by its subsidiary, Jenoptik Polymer Systems Inc. of Keene, N.H. Apollo Optical provides optical system design and engineering services, single-point-diamond turning and polymer injection molding, while RPC Photonics specializes in nonimaging optical design and fabrication of optical structured surfaces for display and illumination systems.
The companies expect that the alliance will provide North American customers with full process chain capabilities, from optical design to optoelectronic assembly and packaging.
