Northrop to Use Tecnomatix in Shipbuilding
Northrop Grumman Ship Systems (NGSS) will use USG's Tecnomatix software to digitize manufacturing planning and assembly simulation of its surface ships, USG announced today. "Shipbuilding is a complex task that requires the development of thousands of manufacturing and assembly operations and the synchronization of these operations with the designer's content to insure accurate and on-time build requirements and work instructions," USG said. Tecnomatix enables detailed three-dimension validation of the operations, which are captured for reuse and cross-program sharing to improve overall shipbuilding efficiency, USG said.
