Researchers Receive DoD Award
Two researchers at the University of Central Florida in Orlando have won an award of $309,600 from the US Department of Defense under its Defense University Research Instrumentation Program, which supports the purchase of scientific equipment costing $50,000 or more. Glenn Boreman of the Center for Research and Education in Optics and Lasers at the College of Optics and Photonics, and Kevin Coffey of the Advanced Materials Processing and Analysis Center will use the grant to purchase an ultrahigh- vacuum thin-film deposition system for research into advanced infrared and microwave imaging sensors.
