ColorLink Hires Miller Schuck as Senior Scientist

Miller Schuck, PhD, has been hired as senior staff scientist by ColorLink, a Boulder, Colo., maker of color management components, polarization optics and system architectures for applications such as consumer electronics, medical diagnostics, avionics and photography. Schuck has 10 years of experience in illumination, imaging and nonimaging optics for projection and near-to-eye (NTE) applications. In his new position, he will develop optics for backlights and projection displays using lamp, LED and laser sources. He will also be involved in 3-D and autostereoscopic display research and development and in customer support. Schuck has a PhD from the University of Colorado, where he researched liquid-crystal-on-silicon (LCOS) devices for automotive head-up display applications. In the early 1990s, he was employed at Ford Motor Co.'s scientific research laboratories, where he developed networking for intelligent vehicle applications. He was also part of LCOS startup Colorado Microdisplay Inc., where he was involved in developing optical engines for NTE applications including helmet-mounted display systems and camera viewfinders. He also researched specialty lenses for holographic data storage at InPhase Technologies. Most recently, he worked for several years at Brillian Corp., leading NTE optical engine efforts and developing projection lenses and lamp- and LED-based illumination systems for LCOS (liquid crystal on silicon) and rear-projection TV products.
