ROVER IMAGES
A 39 × 16-in. poster from Omega Optical Inc. features a panoramic view of the Martian landscape and inset photographs of geological targets. The images were taken by Spirit and Opportunity, the Mars Exploration Rovers, using the company’s filters. The Rovers’ multispectral, stereoscopic imaging systems are equipped with filter wheels that can attain 11 narrow spectral bands. The panoramic view is an approximate true-color rendering generated from images taken through the company’s 750-, 530- and 480-nm filters. The smaller images are true- and pseudocolored composites, with geological data generated from multispectral analysis of selected soil, outcrop and loose rock targets.
