Summit to Explore Key Sensor Technologies

Image Fusion 2007 will examine how the military and industry are evolving their operations and systems and will also bring attendees up-to-date on key sensor technologies such as image intensification, thermal imaging, millimeter wave radar, night vision devices and more. It will examine issues surrounding the defense industrial strategy needed to ensure that the US can stay ahead of changing threats. The summit is being held Jan. 22-24 at Hilton Alexandria Old Town.

Hosting the summit is the Institute for Defense and Government Advancement (IDGA), a non-partisan information-based organization that promotes innovative ideas in public service and defense. IDGA brings together speaker panels comprised of military and government professionals while attracting delegates with decision-making power from military, government and defense industries.

Participants and speakers at the summit will include manufacturers and developers of fusion equipment and fusion software, intelligence and electronic warfare engineers and sensor development engineers, as well as professionals in the areas of optical systems, surveillance systems, soldier weapons, digitization, sensors and lasers, electro-optics and night vision.

Image Fusion 2007 attendees are expected to gain insights on paramount issues surrounding the defense industrial strategy; image fusion, feature detection and target tracking; hyperspectral imaging and characterization; fusion techniques, night vision and infrared technology. Other topics for discussion include human factors issues, requirement definitions and sensor interface requirements, and a Mantis update will be provided.

Defense policymakers expected to attend Image Fusion 2007 include Lt. Col. Jim Smith, PM, Sensors & Lasers, PEO Soldier; George Gibbs, infantry systems, Marine Corps Systems Command; and Eric Larson, senior engineer, Special Technologies Laboratory, Department of Energy, among others.
