Company to Develop Silicon Modulators
Structured Materials Industries Inc. of Piscataway, N.J., has received a Phase II Small Business Technology Transfer program award from the US Air Force to produce silicon photonic modulators. The overall program goal is to combine on a single optoelectronic silicon chip the active and passive optical functions that are needed to fabricate a low-power, high-bandwidth, high-speed and ultrasmall multichannel wavelength division multiplexing transponder.
