Laser Company Secures Flextronics Photonics
Semiconductor laser supplier nLight Corp. has acquired the assets of Flextronics Photonics PPT Inc. of Hillsboro, Ore., adding fiber-coupled and hybrid microelectronic products to its portfolio. The Vancouver, Wash., company plans to integrate the technology with its high-power and brightness diodes in ITAR-compliant manufacturing facilities.
The combined technologies are expected to have applications for the US Department of Defense in the areas of illumination, laser communications, laser-initiated ordnance and laser-based measurement systems.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
