FO PROBE

Instrument Systems GmbH has released an application note on its LED 25 fiber optic probe, which measures averaged LED intensity (ILED-A and ILED-B), illuminance and (using a goniometer) luminous flux with a single measurement head. The document provides a sectional drawing of the device in combination with an ILED-B spacer tube and an LED in a test fixture. It notes that the device is calibrated spectrally and absolutely with the aid of broadband light sources and presents a diagram of potential measurement geometry for testing LED modules. Examples of radiation patterns in the near- and far fields are provided, along with charts showing lateral light throughput of the device along the cross section and as a function of the angle of incidence.
