Microvision Allies to Make Head-Up Displays
A supplier of light scanning technologies for display and imaging products, Microvision Inc. of Redmond, Wash., has partnered with an undisclosed automotive supplier to develop a commercial scanned-beam head-up display for automotive applications. Under the agreement, the companies will design and produce a series of advanced display samples, including devices that can withstand demanding environmental requirements.
Microvision also has entered into a technology development agreement with Fraunhofer Institute for Photonic Microsystems of Dresden, Germany, a specialist in MEMS research and development. The companies previously partnered in developing MEMS scanning mirrors for large-volume display and imaging applications. MEMS scanners are an important component in Microvision’s Integrated Photonics Module platform, which is expected to result in miniature display engines for mass-market OEM applications.
