Fraunhofer USA Receives Development Awards
Fraunhofer USA, a subsidiary of the German research and development organization Fraunhofer-Gesell-schaft, has won four awards totaling $2.9 million from the Michigan Economic Development Commission. The Plymouth-based company will use the funds to develop diode lasers, alternative energy sources and carbon-based coatings. It also will seek to create applications for the laser in automotive manufacturing and in the homeland security market.
