VPISystems has issued a 19-page booklet that describes the capabilities of its VPIphotonics division, a supplier of software for designing optical components and systems. Using diagrams and screen shots, the document details the VPIcomponentMaker and VPItransmissionMaker design and simulation programs for active photonic circuits and optical amplifiers and for various types of wavelength division mulitplexing, analog/digital video broadcast, FTTx and radio-over-fiber systems, respectively. Sections include the graphical user interface, VPIphotonics analyzer for data display and the free simulator VPIplayer. Encryption, design process tools and third-party interfaces are discussed, and a listing of example designs and demonstration applications is provided.
