Corning Cable to Equip Resort Fiber Network
Corning Cable Systems LLC, part of Corning Inc.'s telecommunications segment, will provide optical products for the fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) deployment at Lake Las Vegas resort in Nevada, a 3600-acre development 17 miles from the Las Vegas strip that features residential homes, hotels and championship golf courses. Cable system management company New Village Communications, based in Littleton, Colo., is providing FTTH infrastructure and services for the development "We realized the experience Corning could bring and felt their Advantage products delivered the best value proposition for this deployment," said Dan Ryan, CEO of New Village. "The OptiTap connector provided additional benefits because of its ease of installation and configuration." The OptiTap connector is a hardened connector designed for use in the drop-cable portion of a preconnectorized network. Corning Cable Systems, which is based in Hickory, N.C., will also supply its optical cable, OptiSheath multiPort terminals, OptiTect cabinets and UCAO splice closures. Video Communications Engineering, a Las Vegas provider of engineering services, provided system engineering, material procurement and construction services for the project.
