Siskiyou to Manufacture Optics Mounts
Siskiyou Corp. of Grants Pass, Ore., has been selected by the Fusion Research Center at the University of Texas, Austin, to design and manufacture vacuum-compatible gimbal optics mounts for its petawatt laser system. A scalable 400-mm-diameter design will be used to produce a common mount with varying optical axis heights. The mounts are made from solid billet aluminum and designed for optical elements weighing more than 100 lb. They have smooth 360° of coarse angular adjustment and ±4° of fine motorized control.
