Fiberstars Changes Name to Energy Focus

To underscore its emphasis on providing energy-saving fiber-optic lighting, Fiberstars Inc. of Solon, Ohio, has changed its name to Energy Focus Inc., the company announced yesterday at the LightFair International trade show in New York. At the start of trading today the company's Nasdaq symbol changed from FBST to EFOI; holders of stock bearing the Fiberstars name will not have to exchange them. The company's Web site will change from www.fiberstars.com to www.energyfocusinc.com after May 14, 2007. Energy Focus' EFO fiber-optic lighting systems are used in retail stores, commercial buildings, and pools and spas and use up to 80 percent less energy than conventional lights, the company said. Energy Focus has introduced a line of energy efficient EFO LED lighting products in Europe and is currently testing them on US Navy ships for introduction in the US later this year. The company also said it is expanding its solar energy research and development efforts and is part of a consortium of companies contracted by DARPA to improve solar panel efficiency by 20 to 50 percent.
