IPG Photonics Expands in China

IPG Photonics Corp. of Oxford, Mass., has opened an office in Beijing to provide local support and service for its fiber lasers and amplifiers. The company created the unit in conjunction with the acquisition of its Chinese distributor, HM Laser, and it will retain that company’s trained sales, support, applications, technical and administrative personnel. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Officially named IPG (Beijing) Fiber Laser Technology Co. Ltd., the new office is scheduled to move into a 34,000-sq-ft facility in the Beijing Development zone this summer. IPG also has other offices in Asia.
