Indium, Metallic Resources Solder Joint Alloy Deal

Indium Corp. of Clinton, N.Y., announced an agreement to market Metallic Resources Inc.'s Cobalt995 (99Sn 0.5Cu <0.05Co) Pb-free (lead-free) alloy, an alternative to SAC (Sn/Ag/Cu) alloys used in solder joints for standard wave-soldering applications. Metallic Resources, based in Twinsburg, Ohio, has been marketing Cobalt995 for wave, HASL (hot air solder-level) and SMT (surface-mount technology) applications for over a year. Indium will develop complimentary and compatible cored wire and solder-paste products and will market bar solder for wave applications. Metallic Resources supplies solders and materials for the electronics assembly and metal-joining markets. Indium is a provider of electronics assembly and semiconductor packaging materials including solder pastes, solder preforms, fluxes, Pb-free solder alloys, underfill materials and die-attach materials, and commercial-grade and high-purity indium.
