Veeco Receives Project Funds and Orders
Sematech, based in Austin, Texas, and the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering of the University of Albany, home to the New York State Center of Excellence in Nanoelectronics and Nanotechnology, have announced that International Sematech North (ISMTN) of Albany has selected Veeco Instruments Inc. of Woodbury, N.Y., for an additional $2.4 million project that will provide research and development to enable extreme UV lithography for advanced manufacturing. Veeco will receive the funding from Sematech to develop its ion beam deposition tool, which is part of ISMTN’s Mask Blank Development Center. Since the Albany company’s inception in 2002, Veeco has received nearly $19 million for ion beam products and research programs.
