QPC Lasers Hires Tom Steele as Market Development Director
QPC Lasers Inc., a Sylmar, Calif.-based developer of high brightness, high power semiconductor lasers, today announced that it has named Tom Steele, PhD, director of market development for its growing medical business. QPC, which also makes lasers for the industrial and defense markets, said it received orders last quarter from more than 10 customers for lasers with dermatologic, ophthalmic, and surgical applications. Steele has 18 years of laser industry experience, particularly in biomedical markets. Prior to joining QPC, he served as director of marketing and North American commercial sales manager for Spectra Physics Lasers (now Newport's Spectra-Physics Lasers Div.) and worked as marketing manager for Lightwave Electronics, now part of JDSU. Steele received his PhD in physics from Stanford University.
