Adept Robots Packing for Argentina

Adept Technology Inc. of Livermore, Calif., announced Tuesday it has signed an exclusive agreement with Buenos Aires Technology to distribute its products in Argentina. It also said it has received its first order from a customer in Argentina for its high-speed robotic line, which will be used to package specialty chocolates. Under the agreement, Buenos Aires Technology will be the exclusive distributor of Adept's robotics, controls, and vision and software products, including the Adept Quattro s650 packaging robot, throughout Argentina. The candy packaging line will use the high-speed Adept Cobra s800 robots and the Adept SmartController platform, with integrated vision and conveyor tracking, to individually wrap the candy. John Dulchinos, president and COO of Adept Technology, said, "This robotic packaging line shows that the speed and flexibility of today's robotics make them a cost-effective alternative to manual packaging -- even in lower-cost labor markets."
