National Science Foundation Invests in New Imaging Curriculum

Engineers and scientists are overhauling the undergraduate curriculum in imaging at the University of Rochester, thanks in part to a $500,000 grant from the National Science Foundation. Five courses will be added and nine courses will be enhanced. Two laboratories with new imaging technology will be created at the Rochester, N.Y., university as well.

Topics in one of the classes include the physics of color imaging, digital video and photography, computer vision and virtual reality, medical imaging, digital art and publishing, and image transmission. Other courses will focus on medical imaging, image science and visual computing.
