GigaBeam Moves HQ, Hires CFO
GigaBeam Corp., a provider of "wireless fiber optics" (WiFiber) technology, has moved to a new facility at 4021 Stirrup Creek Drive, Durham, N.C. 27703. The company also announced it has hired Mark Hahn as chief financial officer and vice president of finance and administration. Hahn is a long-time CFO and a former senior manager at Ernst & Young; most recently, he was CFO at BuildLinks Inc. WiFiber, a radio-based system intended to augment Wi-Fi deployments with inexpensive high-speed bandwidth, is billed as a "fiber alternative." GigaBeam was recently awarded contracts from One Velocity and InnovatIF to deploy WiFiber and is working to expand its service in metropolitan areas. It is already being used in the New York City area.
