mPhase Technologies Names Fred Allen CEO of Nanotech Subsidiary

mPhase Technologies Inc. of Little Falls, N.J., announced that Fred Allen, PhD, has been named CEO of its wholly owned New Jersey-based subsidiary, AlwaysReady Inc., created in April to commercialize the company's nanobatteries and microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) -based ultrasensitive magnetometers. "Our initial focus will be on prototype fabrication to test the functionality of both technologies in select applications," said Allen, who has 25 years of experience working at the nanometer scale as a materials scientist. He most recently operated his own consultancy, RADii Solutions LLC. He is the author of over 35 publications and presentations and has 10 patents. Allen joined New Jersey-based Engelhard Corp. in 1987, and over the next two decades conducted research, commercialized products and managed the company’s Technology Assessment Group. He also led its rechargeable lithium-ion battery materials program and managed its Technology Assessment Group. Allen has served as senior vice president of materials for investment firm Advance Nanotech and is cofounder and director of the Greater Garden State Nanotechnology Alliance. He is a member of the New Jersey Technology Council Board, an advisor to the Mid-Atlantic Nanotechnology Alliance and chairman of the Nanotechnology Committee of SMART (Strengthening the Mid-Atlantic Region for Tomorrow).
