FAA Puts Cyber Security on the Table

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will be able to "quickly mitigate and respond to cyber security threats to the FAA network" using TouchTable technology developed by Northrop Grumman, shown here by Mike Brown, FAA chief information security officer and Jammie McCoy, a Northrop Grumman Cyber Security Incident Response Center (CSIRC) training officer. The 84-inch, touch-sensitive computer display screen senses the location of points that are touched to manipulate information in real time. Users will be able to control a computer-aided design of a building in which an event is occurring and to access data on what transpires at the site through a live feed from a security information management tool. Northrop Grumman has supported the FAA CSIRC with network system protection since 2004. Under the current contract, the company performs around-the-clock monitoring of FAA computer systems to detect, protect and respond to cyber-related incidents. "This cutting-edge technology has been adapted for intelligence, national defense and homeland security missions," said Linda Mills, president of the Civilian Agencies group at Northrop Grumman's Information Technology sector.
